Can sunglasses frame be used for prescription eyeglasses?

Yes, Most of our sunglasses can accommodate prescription glasses, However, You have to shop from eyeglasses category to select your customized lenses.

What is lenses made of?

1)       None of Eyeglasses and Sunglasses are made of glasses, although Eyeglasses(Eye Glasses) word itself is from glasses. The ideal material for your lenses depends on your prescription and your budget.

2)       Most of  our lenses are made of Polycarbonate. Plastic lenses are recommended for light prescriptions, ranging from no correction to +/-2.00. Polycarbonate lenses are 30% thinner and lighter than plastic and recommended for people with prescriptions ranging from +/- 2.00 to +/-5.00 and lens index ranging from 1.49 to 1.67. Polycarbonate is also recommended for children under 18 years of age and anyone who has an active lifestyle, due to its impact-resistance. Rimless and semi-rimless frames also work best with polycarbonate lenses.

3)       MR Series, Mitsui Chemicals is known globally as a leading manufacturer of urethane products. With the introduction of MR-6 (1.60) in 1987, the company became the first to apply thiourethane chemical technology to ophthalmic lenses. Thiourethane polymers include sulfur atoms that are responsible for the high refractive index levels of these products. recommended for people with prescriptions ranging from +/- 4.00 up +/- 20.00 and lens index range from 1.6 to 1.74

 What is Aspheric lens?

1)       An aspheric lens or asphere is a lens whose surface profiles are not portions of a sphere or cylinder. The asphere's more complex surface profile can reduce or eliminate spherical aberration and also reduce other optical aberrations such as astigmatism, compared to a simple lens. A single aspheric lens can often replace a much more complex multi-lens system.

2)       Aspheric lenses are also sometimes used for eyeglasses. Aspheric eyeglass lenses allow for crisper vision than standard "best form" lenses, Moreover, the reduction of the magnification effect of a lens may help with prescriptions that have different powers in the 2 eyes (anisometropia). they may give a thinner lens, and also distort the viewer's eyes less as seen by other people, producing better aesthetic

3)       Almost all of our lenses are Aspheric.

What is Advantages of Aspheric lens

Advantages of High-Index Lenses

1)       High-index eyeglass lenses are the right choice if you want thinner, lighter lenses and eyeglasses that are as attractive and comfortable as possible.

2)       Thinner, lighter high-index lenses are especially recommended if you have a strong eyeglass prescription for nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism.

Coating

1)     Hard Coating

        This protective coating makes the lens surface scratch-resistant by increasing the abrasion resistance of the lens material. All of our lenses are hard coated.

2)     Multilayer coatings

Hard Coating that is sturdy and scratch-resistant, Anti-reflection Coating that reduces surface reflection. Most of our lens have multilayer coatings.

Because the lenses have multilayer films for different function such as anti UV400, anti-reflective and etc., Please do not use hot water to wash your eyeglasses lenses or take shower with glasses.

Every time wash your lenses, use cool water first and then use soft paper napkin to clear water in one direction. Please do not use Acidic or alkaline detergent. Pleaase do not put your glasses in the car which is exposure to strong sunlight for a long time.

Multilayer coatings and their function

UV400 Treated Lenses

This lens is treated with a chemical dye that blocks out ultraviolet (UV rays of up to 400 nm wavelength, thus providing UV protection.

Mirror Coating

A mirror coating reflects back light and reduces the amount of light passing through the lens. This makes it more comfortable for eyes in very sunny conditions.

Polarized lenses

Light reflected from surfaces such as a flat road or smooth water generally is horizontally polarized, this creates an annoying and sometimes dangerous intensity of light that we experience as glare. Polarized lenses contain a special filter that blocks this type of intense reflected light, reducing glare.

How do Polarized lenses function

Bi-focal vs progressive(no line bifocals) Lenses?

 Bifocal lenses offers two different viewing zones: the top part of the lens is for distance and the lower part for the lens is for reading. The viewing zones of bi-focal lenses are divided by a visible line. Progressive(no line bifocals) lenses are essentially no-line bi-focals. But instead of offering just two different viewing zones (near and far vision), progressive(no line bifocals) lenses offer many different focal points by seamlessly transitioning from distance vision to intermediate and near vision and everything in between. Progressive( no line bifocals) lenses provide much more natural vision and are typically recommended over bi-focal lenses. Generally speaking,  Both require frame lens’s height at least 28 mm and it is recommended that you choice the frame with lens’s height more 32 mm.

Photochromic lenses

Photochromic lenses are eyeglass lenses that are clear (or nearly clear) indoors and darken automatically when exposed to sunlight. Other terms sometimes used for photochromic lenses include "light-adaptive lenses" and "variable tint lenses. The most popular brand of photochromic lenses are Transitions Lenses. We provide transitions and other brands

DV and NV

DV=Distance Vision
NV=Near Vision

O.D. and O.S.

O.D.=Oculus Dexter=Right Eye
O.S.=Oculus Sinister=Left Eye

Sphere= Strength of Lenses (-20.00 t0 +20.00)

Cylinder=the amount of lens power for astigmatism (-20.00 t0 +20.00)

Axis=Direction of lens correction ( 0 to 180)

Pupillary Distance is the distance  between the centers of the pupils in each eye

How to Measure the Pupillary Distance

Add. This is the added magnifying power applied to the bottom part of multifocal lenses to correct presbyopia. The number appearing in this section of the prescription is always a "plus" power, even if it is not preceded by a plus sign. Generally, it will range from +0.75 to +3.00 D and will be the same power for both eyes.

Prism and Base:  Some eyeglasses have a prism added because the person's eyes are not properly aligned. The base indicates where the thickest edge of the prism will be: BU (for base up), BD (for base down), BI (for base in toward the nose), or BO (for base out toward the ears). The base direction tells you where the prism will redirect light. Only a small percentage of eyeglass prescriptions include prism.
